1. Label the sample bag
Prepare for each DNA-sexing a clean sample bag (plastic bag, envelope, etc.) and label it with the species of the bird and the ring number.
2. Fill in the order form
You can fill in the order form on the PC and print it out. If you don’t have a computer, enclose a handwritten note with the necessary information (your name and address, desired analysis, bird species, ring number, date and signature).
3. Which feathers are necessary?
For the sexing of bigger birds (e.g. greyparrots, cockatoos etc.) we need two to three feathers from the breast or stomache, from smaller birds (e.g. lovebirds, finches etc.), two middle-size feathers from the tail or wing are sufficient. If blood adheres to the quill, one feather suffices. Put the feathers into the prepared sample bag. Important: old feathers found on the ground of the cage or some picked by the bird itself are not appropriate for a DNA analysis.
4. Posting of the feathers

5. Notification of the results
Within one or two days after receiving the samples we will send a certificate with the result of each individual DNA-sexing. If you give us your email address, you will be automatically notified of the incoming samples and the results of the analysis.
Mode of payment
We ask our customers from abroad to transfer the appropriate amount shortly after sending the samples to us.
